Biography

Shane R. Hess, DO is a board eligible and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult joint reconstruction of the hip and knee. 

Dr. Hess received his fellowship training in adult reconstruction from Virginia Commonwealth University. He gained valuable experience in treating complex joint problems in both tertiary and in community hospital settings.  Dr. Hess completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Michigan State University - McLaren Greater Lansing in Lansing, Michigan.  He obtained his medical degree from Des Moines University – College of Osteopathic Medicine where he was recognized with the Osteopathic Ram’s Head Award and Howard A. Graney Award for Surgical Excellence. He received his undergraduate from the University of Southern Colorado.

Dr. Hess is actively involved in ongoing research and has published articles, presented posters and given talks on arthroplasty and conditions of the hip and knee.  He has a passion for education through faculty appointments and by participating in instructional courses at both the local and national levels.  Professional memberships include the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgery (AAOS),  American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS),  American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO), International Congress for Joint Reconstruction (ICJR), National Eagle Scout Association (NESA), and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA).
