Marc Jacofsky, PhD

Marc JacofskyDr. Marc Jacofsky is The CORE Institute's Vice President of Research and Development and the Director of the SHRI-CORE Orthopedic Research Labs. Marc has a diverse background in physical and biological sciences.  His Ph.D. work on the musculoskeletal anatomy of the hand was funded by a National Science Foundation grant in interdisciplinary graduate education and research training (IGERT); combining bioengineering, gross anatomy, motor control, physics, and mathematics to quantify and model complex anatomical systems.  Marc oversees the research studies performed through the SHRI-CORE Orthopedic Research labs and works with CORE physicians to develop new medical technologies.  His diverse research experience, covering comparative anatomy, the biomechanical testing of tissues, gait and motion analysis, and clinical research is a natural fit with the mission of the orthopedic research labs. 

In addition to his research experience, he has extensive knowledge of intellectual property development including the patenting, prototyping, and testing of new medical devices and technologies.  Marc has bachelor’s degrees in geological sciences and physical anthropology from SUNY Binghamton, and master’s and Ph.D degrees in physical anthropology from Arizona State University.
