Vimala Ramachandran, MD
Vimala Ramachandran, MD is a board certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. Within her subspecialty, she focuses on wrist arthroscopy, small joint arthroplasty, nerve and tendon repair, upper extremity trauma and reconstruction, and pediatric and congenital deformities.
Dr. Ramachandran completed her fellowship at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis Minnesota, and her orthopedic residency at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Ohio, where she also conducted physicals for varsity high school athletes. She earned her medical degree from Case Western's School of Medicine, and her bachelor's degree at Cornell University, Ithaca New York, where she graduated magna cum laude. While at Cornell University, Dr. Ramachandran was recognized through the Dean's list honors award, the Dean's scholar award, the Phi Kappa Gamma Honor Society, the Phi Betta Kappa Honor Society, and the Golden Key National Honor Society.
Dr. Ramachandran has published numerous articles, including Biomechanical Evaluation of Three Part Proximal Humerus Fractures: A Cadaveric Study. In addition, she has presented lectures throughout the country. The topics ranged from Thumb Demystified and Common Tumors of the Hand.
Dr. Ramanchandran is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedics, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, Washington State Orthopaedic Society, Charles Herndon Orthopaedic Society, and the American Medical Women's Association.
