
Jennifer Schaeffer, RN, FNP-BC
Jennifer completed her Master’s of Science degree in Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During her studies, she served as a research assistant for a study with the National Cancer Institute and was honored as a recipient of the Wealtha McGurn Student Research Award. Jennifer received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing, graduating magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to her nursing degrees, Jennifer graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology and Music from Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. As a registered nurse, Jennifer developed her skills in trauma and adult general surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Jennifer also gained extensive training as a nurse practitioner in the Emergency Departments of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Blank Children’s Hospital. While at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, she managed non-urgent Emergency Department patients as well as patients in the Travel Medicine and Occupational Medicine clinics. Some of her many responsibilities included: suturing lacerations, evaluating and treating musculoskeletal injuries and managing acute exacerbations of chronic diseases. Jennifer is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She is proficient in Spanish. Jennifer is active in her community, serving as a volunteer at the American Heart Association. In her free time, she enjoys photography, mountain and road biking, traveling, backpacking and running. Jennifer Schaeffer is a Registered Nurse and Family Health Nurse Practitioner, working alongside Dr. David Ben-Aviv. Prior to joining The CORE Institute, Jennifer managed all aspects of care for non-urgent patients in the Emergency Department at The Children’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
