Scott W. Siverhus, MD, MS

Scott W. Siverhus, MD, MS is a specialist in joint replacement and revision surgery of the hip and knee. He joins The CORE Institute following a successful 14 years as the Director of The Toledo Joint Replacement & Orthopedic Center.

Dr. Siverhus double-majored in zoology and sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He graduated with dean's list honors and was inducted into the Alpha Kappa Delta International Honor Society. He received his master's degree from the Department of Sociology at UW-Madison with a concentration in analysis and research. During that time, he published extensively in the field of patient-physician communication. This provided the platform for the development of his medical career and expertise in clinical research.

He received his medical doctorate from The University of Cincinnati, where he was honored with the Salvador M. Adriano award in Pathology. Following a surgical internship, Dr. Siverhus began a research fellowship with the Departments of Orthopedics and Rheumatology. He was particularly interested in laser applications in orthopedic surgery and cartilage regeneration. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency and was chief resident at The University of Cincinnati. Following this, he was awarded the prestigious Otto E. Aufranc Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dr. Siverhus has lectured and performed live surgical demonstrations in the U.S. and internationally. He also has a longstanding interest in clinical research, and has served as a clinical investigator in various FDA-monitored joint replacement trials. He has served as chairman of the Education and Services Committee, and elected to the Board of Directors of the Northwest Ohio Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation.

Dr. Siverhus and his family have enjoyed the southwest and desert living for several years before he joined The CORE Institute. In his free time he participates in golf, biking, weight training and downhill skiing.
